Contains two voyages: on the MATTAPOISETT (Bark) of Westport, June 11, 1873 - Sept. 22, 1874, master Orlando J. Tripp (Starbuck 646); and on the HENRY TROWBRIDGE (Brig) of Stonington, Oct. 7, 1879 - Nov. 29, 1882, master Caleb Osburn Hamblin (Sherman 373, Hegarty 8). At end of first voyage: lists of dates whales raised and by whom; whales raised on the ship CALEDONIA in 1839-1840. At end of second voyage: lists of oil stowed; "sperm whales seen"; Captain's expenses after brig was condemned at Fayal.
