Biographical / Historical

The “Greyhound” was a 250-ton bark built in Kingston, MA in 1850. The voyage recorded returned 1,054 barrels of sperm oil. On December 18-20, while boiling down 4 recently-killed whales, a passing vessel thought the vessel were on fire due to the smoke. The logbook includes whale stamps and descriptions of attempted desertions.
