Mashapaug Pond, UPP Arts, and Education by Emma Phillips, 2015
Scope and Contents
Series 4 documents several aspects of UPP Arts’ relationship with Brown University. The majority of materials relate to “Oral History and Community Memory,” a Public Humanities course co-taught by Anne Valk and Holly Ewald in fall 2011, spring 2013, and spring 2014. Documents from this course include notebooks and digital teaching files from both Valk and Ewald; large pages of class notes; research papers and articles; and materials from the exhibits, websites, and audio tours designed by their students. In addition to work from the oral history course, this series includes materials from several other projects completed by Brown University students and some documents relating to Brown’s Superfund Research Program, which partnered with UPP Arts and other local organizations to address environmental health and remediation concerns in Rhode Island.
