"Limited suffrage in Rhode Island", North American Review, November 1883, 1883
Scope and Contents
The Rhode Island Women’s Suffrage Association (RIWSA) records collection consists of materials relating to women’s suffrage that were published by RIWSA and collected from affiliated women’s suffrage groups in Rhode Island between 1883 and 1919. The materials span from informational newsletters to promote women's suffrage to a counseling booklet for Rhode Island women voters once their suffrage was legislated in 1920. The collection does include one oppositional leaflet that was collected from the Rhode Island Association Opposed to Women’s Suffrage. The collection offers a spread of materials which document dominant arguments, organizing tactics, and shifting coalitions in the women’s suffrage movement in Rhode Island and as it related to the nation.
