Scope and Contents
Includes flyers, newspaper clippings and posters associated with the March for Nuclear Disarmament and Human Needs on June 12, 1982 during the United Nation Special Session on Disarmament that ran from June 7-July 9, 1982. One thousand people from Rhode Island joined the protest. Topakian was one of thirty Rhode Islanders who were arrested while protesting outside the Russian Embassy. Topakian noted, "This was my first arrest. We chose the Russian Embassy because we knew Russian people had limited to non-existant access to protest their country." The image published in the NY Post captioned "Girl is loaded onto bus at 67 Street" is of Topakian.
