A paper wrapper included with the item indicates that it was purchase from The American Autograph Shop in Merion Station, Pa. A clipping from what appears to be a sales catalog includes a price of $11.

Docketed on the verso "Capt Wm Harlow bill of lading for 1/2 a Negro, Mar 8, 1774."
The document indicates that Henry, the enslaved subject of the bill of lading, was owned by multiple parties, and was being conveyed south from Plymouth, MA to South Carolina.
