Includes two voyages: on the GOVERNOR CARVER (Bark) of Westport, July 13, 1854 - June 9, 1857, master Oren B. Higgins (Sherman 336, Starbuck 518); and on the A. R. TUCKER (Bark) of Dartmouth, Oct. 7, 1857 - Dec. 6, 1858, master Oren B. Higgins (Sherman 3, Starbuck 550). At end: slops accounts. Contains whale stamps, whale sketches, and a number of later additions seemingly from children including illustrations of animals, handwriting practice, and a record of how much a child received from selling his or her eggs. Later sections include signatures of Edward O. Higgins and Betsey C. Higgins who were presumably Oren Higgins' children.
