The Helen Katherine Bromm Illustrations collection consists of 68 items including fabric ‘tickets,’ illustrations for childhood books and other visual materials for children, greeting cards, original art for personal and professional use, linocuts, and a three-color progressive proof.

Biographical / Historical

Born in 1888, Helen Katherine Bromm was an illustrator who was active in New York City and St. Petersburg, Florida. After studying art at The Cooper Union, she created work as a freelance illustrator and at a lithographic firm in New York City. At this firm, she created illustrations for textile mills in New England and the South. Her illustrations were used as both advertisements and as fabric labels or ‘tickets’ attached to bolts of fabric to promote sales. Bromm also created illustrations for Raphael Tuck & Sons postcards, magazines and books. She died in 1990, and throughout her life was married to Harrison M. Clark.
