Henry Harris Brown served aboard the Plover on its 1858-1862 whaling voyage out of New Bedford. In his letter to Mary Susan Wilbur he discusses life aboard ship, taking a whale and cutting in, and time spent in Mauritius as well as reminiscing about Providence.

The photographs in the collection depict Henry Brown and Mary Susan Wilbur as well as John Thurston Brown
