Biographical / Historical
The Social Workers Club of Rhode Island was approximately founded at least by 1911 (possibly sooner) and was active at least until 1949. The mission of the organization was, “The discussion of subjects pertaining to social welfare; to foster needed social reforms, and to cultivate a personal acquaintance among all social workers of the state.” The Club appears to have been a connecting force of social welfare workers and their various organizations across the state of Rhode Island, as well as a force to foster any new needed programs.
Note, in the materials, “The Social Workers Club of Rhode Island” and The Rhode Island Social Workers Club” are used interchangeably. There is a small possibility that these are two different organizations.
