G.C. Moore album of Rhode Island Hospital
Scope and Contents
The album contains photographs documenting the Rhode Island Hospital buildings and grounds as well as medical staff and patients near the turn of the 20th century. According to the captions, images include Dr. Woodward in an ambulance, children with diptheria, an operating room, an amputation by Dr. Levin as well as a number of images of doctors and nurses. Also included are images of buildings including the main building, the nurse's home, the out-patient building, a 'contagious' ward and "Ward C".

Biographical / Historical
Rhode Island Hospital was founded in 1857 through a bequest from Moses Brown. The hospital's main building was completed around the turn of the century. Today only a small portion of the original buildings and campus remain as a part of the hospital. The creator of this album, G.C. Moore, may have been a doctor or nurse working at the hospital.
