Biographical / Historical

Mildred Frances Chase (1899-1990) was born in Rhode Island to Henry T. and Lizzie F. (Moulton) Chase, both natives of Massachusetts. Chase graduated from Brown University in 1920. She completed her librarian training at the Providence Public Library. She graduated from Simmons College with a Library Science degree in 1928 and worked as a librarian at the Providence Public Library’s Rochambeau branch on Hope Street. She retired in 1963 and then moved away from Providence. She died in Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
