Biographical / Historical
Channing Memorial Church in Newport, Rhode Island became a welcoming congregation to LGBTQ+ people in 2003. Interweave, a congregational support group of LGBTQ+ people and allies, was established a few years later. The group advocated for marriage equality in Rhode Island and holds annual events including the Trans Day of Remembrance and the Born This Way prom for LGBTQ+ young adults.
Pam Goff of Newport, Rhode Island is a straight, cisgender woman and a founding member of Interweave.
