Scope and Contents This collection consists of letters written by Edwin W. Arnold to members of his family during the period of December 22, 1862 – November 1, 1865 during his service in the Union army. Arnold kept up regular correspondence with his family during this time often writing two or three letters a month. Most of the letters are written to Arnold’s mother, several are addressed to his father, two to his younger brother George, and one to his cousin Mary Whipple. Each of the letters is signed...

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the papers of the Arnold family, chiefly letters, but also circulars, invitations and other ephemera, dating from 1861 to 1904. Letters of the Arnold family consist mainly of personal correspondence. In some cases a family member held an office and their professional correspondence is also included.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists primarily of manuscripts and papers from the society, as well as published material including newspapers and flyers. Some paperwork, such as muster rolls and blank applications, are included, as well as some correspondence appearing to be from members of the society. A ledger volume documents the titles that were in the library collection. The collection also includes the collar worn by Major Sullivan Ballou.
